1. A Warning to Youth: God Will Not Lower His Standard
The children of Israel once thought they could live with a divided heart.
In the opening chapters of Judges, we see them choosing compromise over obedience. God had commanded them to drive out the nations from the Promised Land, but instead, they allowed idols and pagan practices to dwell among them.
They became lukewarm—neither fully rejecting God nor fully following Him. And what was the result? God’s anger burned against them.
11. And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim:
12. And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger.
13. And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
14. And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
15. Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.
Judges 2:11-15
He withdrew His protection, and they suffered greatly at the hands of their enemies.
This is the same spirit we see today in the youth: a casual, “halfway” Christianity. But God has not changed. If He did not tolerate compromise then, He will not tolerate it now.
2. Why Youth Are Not Coming to Church
Here are five of the main reasons why young people see church as a complete waist of time.
Pay attention because this applies also to the adult and many other backsliders out there.
The Love of the World Has Blinded Them
Entertainment, social media, money, and pleasure have become the modern idols.
Many youth believe that “fun” is found outside the church, while obedience to God is seen as boring.
Yet the Word declares: "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him" (1 John 2:15).
They Think They Have Time
The devil whispers, “You are still young. You can repent later.” But later is not promised. Death does not ask for age.
Every funeral of a young man or woman should serve as a reminder: tomorrow is not guaranteed.
They Want God Without Responsibility
Many want blessings without obedience, favor without holiness, grace without repentance.
They treat salvation as if it were a blanket excuse to continue in sin. But Jesus said, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily” (Luke 9:23).
They Have Been Deceived Into Thinking God Understands Their Compromise
The youth say, “God understands me. He knows I’m young.”
Yes, He knows you are young, but He also knows your heart. He will not bless rebellion disguised as weakness.
The Church Has Been Replaced With Other Altars
Nightclubs, parties, and even online distractions have become the new sanctuaries.
The place of prayer has been exchanged for endless scrolling and digital idols.
Their life is filled with distraction, pollution and time-waisters that keep them in the loop of thinking that they are busy when they are indirectly worship the alters of todays age, are they are innumerable.
3. The Wake-Up Call - God Is Not a Fool
Do not mistake God’s patience for weakness. Do not think that because He is silent, He approves. The Bible says, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap” (Galatians 6:7).
To the youth: your age is not a license to live carelessly. Wisdom does not come with age if you are rejecting God; wisdom comes when you fear the Lord.
You say you are wise because you can navigate technology, trends, and education, but if you neglect your soul, you are a fool.
Youth, It is time to awaken from spiritual sleep!
It is time to return to God while He may still be found.
Just as in Judges, God is looking for a generation that will rise, repent, and restore His honor.
43. Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
Psalms 107:43
Let this be in your mind and understand....
⚡ Here are some of them
- God is not lowering His standard for you.
- Holiness is still holiness.
- Sin is still sin.
- Heaven and hell are still real.
- Time waits for no man
- You only live once, one life only
I am afraid that there are no shortcuts, no exceptions, no excuses, and no favours!
4. Key Lessons From 4 Bible Stories
When Eli’s Sons Profaned the Priesthood: God Judges even the Youth
22. Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
23. And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.
24. Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD'S people to transgress.
25. If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.
1 Samuel 2:22-25
In the scriptures above, 1 Samuel 2, we read about Hophni and Phinehas, the sons of Eli which were wicked and very bad!
Though they were priests, they treated the offerings of God with contempt. They used their position for selfish gain and indulged in sin right at the temple.
And what happened? God’s judgment fell. He declared that both sons would die on the same day because they dishonored Him (on verse 34).
Many youth today walk the same path—they may be in church, but their hearts are far from God. They think proximity to the altar is enough, while living in compromise. But God is not fooled by titles, age, or background. Just as He judged Eli’s sons, He will judge all who play with His presence.
When Ananias and Sapphira Lied to the Holy Spirit: God cannot be Mocked
8. And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
9. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
10. Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
Acts 5:8-10
In the scripture above, Ananias and Sapphira sold their property but secretly kept part of the money while pretending to give it all to the apostles. They thought they could deceive men and deceive God.
But Peter told them, “You have not lied just to human beings but to God” (Acts 5:4). Instantly, both fell dead.
What is the lesson? God cannot be mocked. Many young people think they can live a double life—one face for church, another for the world.
They post scriptures online but live in hidden sin offline. But the eyes of the Lord see everything. What you hide from men cannot be hidden from Him.
When Lot's Wife Looked Back: Living Double Lives
24. Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;
25. And he overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.
26. But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
Genesis 19:24-26
In our brief study of what happened to Lot's wife we learn that she was trapped in two worlds.
She lived a double life just like the young people do. God sent angels to rescue Lot and his family from Sodom before its destruction. The command was clear: "Do not look back." Yet Lot’s wife turned back..
...but why...? Because she did not want leave that city and immediately became a pillar of salt.
She died much worse than the inhabitants of Sodom because of her love of a double life—wanting to be a christian while you are a sodomite in the heart!
This is a stan warning for the youth who say, "I'll leave sin eventually, but let me enjoy it a little longer." Looking back at the world in longing is a sign of a divided heart.
Jesus Himself later said, "Remember Lot's wife" (Luke 17:32). The lesson is clear: halfway obedience is still disobedience.
When King Herod Rejected God’s Glory: Pride Is Great Sin That God Hates
21. And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
22. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
Acts 12:21-22
And lastly, King Herod delivered a public speech. The crowd shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not a man!” Instead of giving glory to God, Herod received the praise. Immediately, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he died eaten by worms.
This is the same danger many youth face today. In fact pride is what makes them to rebel and and undermine God. It makes them to think that their own desires are above God because of prideful hearts.
Social media fame, talent, beauty, and success can make one believe they are self-made. But taking glory that belongs to God, and being proud is deadly!
Furthermore, pride is not harmless—it is rebellion. And just as Herod discovered, God will not share His glory with anyone, not even in a million years....
5. Conclusion: Tomorrow Is Not Promised To Anyone
So ask yourself this question, "Do you really think that you have all the time in the world?"
The answer is No! No one is ever promised tomorrow!
It is your choice to live the way you want, no one is going to live your life for you, and no one will be the to speak for when God Almighty judges you....
One thing is clear that you either listen to God and stop living recklessly and irresponsible, and repent from your shameful ways and wicked ways as a young man or women; or, you keep deceiving yourself along with those that are pershing and destined to live ungodly lives, one day you will find yourself dead! There will be no one to blame but yourself.
You cannot live double lives and neither can you serve two masters. You have to chose even now when you are still a young person.
You are the light and future of tomorrow and your choices shape and bend your destiny and fate...it all begins when you are still young!
Do not want to go to Church because of problems and other reasons that are stumbling blocks in other people's lives because they never took God serious!
Know from now one that this is not a game. This is not about entertainment or casual religion. This is about life and death, heaven and hell, obedience and rebellion. The devil has deceived many youth into thinking they are wise enough to balance both the world and God, but in reality, they are walking on the edge of destruction.
And many have fallen, do not be one of them!
But here’s the sobering truth: God is not waiting on youth to grow up before He demands holiness. He is not lowering His standard simply because you are young, gifted, or "still figuring things out." The Bible says plainly, "God is not a respecter of persons" (Acts 10:34). That means His expectations for you are the same as for your parents, your leaders, and every believer throughout history.
So, the question is not whether God has changed, but whether you will wake up before it is too late.
Be ready, watch, pray and prepare because He is coming for those that are faithful to him even when it seems unpopular. Youth, Young men and young women, awaken because your Lord is here, in Jesus Name. Amen!
Give you life to God today and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Pray this simple repentance prayer now and you shall be saved!
Do not wait for tomorrow do it right now while you still have the opportunity!
